Texas Legislature voting process

Watch the full video for some interesting behavior from the Texas Legislature. It seems that if someone is absent, whoever gets to their desk first votes for them.

I wonder if this happens in the US Legislature as well?

I’m afraid it happens more than we think. Even if they are the ones doing the voting, most representatives haven’t read the legislation or even thought about the issues/bills. Often they vote based only on what others they trust vote. Elder Maxwell describes this situation during the 50’s when he worked on Capitol Hill.
I’m sure it’s not any better now.

Shameful. I’m from Texas and this makes me not very proud of it. It would be interesting to study the voting in national congress. I don’t know much about this, but …. is voting in national congress monitored by anyone outside of congress? TV? News reporters?
